How to park for free

Parkers want to know whether they have to pay for parking and whether they can park for free. How a city or municipality implements this is up to them. As a result, parkers have various options for obtaining free parking time. 4411 has no say in the city's decisions on this matter.

• Free time via a regular paid parking session: some cities implement their free time in a regular parking session. The first part of your session will then be free.
   

• Start a free parking session: a city may also choose to separate the free time from the paid time. In the 4411 app, there is a box “Free session” that you must tick. After your free session, you can start a paid session. Please note: a free session is limited in time. The duration is indicated next to the box.

  

• Specific zone for free parking: some cities have chosen to designate a special zone for free parking. You can only park for free in this zone.

Restrictions!

Some cities impose certain restrictions on free time. Any restrictions are listed in the app under “View rates”.

• Time restriction: each number plate is allocated a maximum amount of time for a certain period (e.g. 15 minutes per day or 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the afternoon). 
   
• First session only: sometimes you only get free time for your first session of the day in a parking zone. For example, the first 15 minutes of a session will be free, but starting from your second session, you will also have to pay for the first 15 minutes. This is the case in certain areas of Antwerp and Genk, for example.
   
• Free time across multiple parking zones: the free time used is sometimes valid for multiple zones in a city. For example, if you have already parked for 15 minutes for free in one zone, you will no longer be entitled to that free quarter of an hour in another zone.
